HAOS Reading Volunteers Project
Secondary Grammar school mentors provide support to primary school pupils in our area.
After the successful Spring Term Pilot 2014 with Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy, we also had 50
students from Handsworth Grammar School completing a one term placement as a part of their
community Service Package/ Enrichment Programme. This has become another successful
project. This project is extremely popular with the secondary schools as it provides a
community service opportunity for students that can be used as part
of their UCAS application form.
